bebé dos:: twelve weeks

How far along: 12 weeks!

Gender: WE KNOW WE KNOW WE KNOWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Names we love: Julianna Cate (Anna Cate) / Beau W_____ ??????
Total weight gain: +1-2 for the most part.
Clothes: Pretty normal, but my shorts are getting tight. It's also tricky with really form-fitting clothes or drapey cotton things that show chub.
Sleep: Needing a lot of it lately!!! I was so fatigued yesterday after Saturday's wedding, and really Friday too. Wanting to exercise more so it's less noticeable / more energy emerges.
Cravings/Aversions: SWEETS. Ice cream, cake, dessert of every kind. Also jalapeño slaw and carnitas!
Symptoms: SO HORMONAL. Emotional roller coaster!!!!! Totally unpredictable. SO irritable this weekend.

Diabetes Management: Going ok! Last night went well -- didn't take my fasting insulin but didn't need to.
Exercise: Walks, hopefully more barre videos!
Mood: SO HAPPY TODAY but so crazy all weekend!!!!!
Miss Anything: Somewhat normalcy? I'm just so happy we KNOWWWWWW I don't care about anything else!
Best Moment this week: FINDING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Told Anyone? No one new!
Looking forward to: Gender Reveal Party this Saturday! And then our photo shoot with Amy Monday!

five on friday

It's that time! Linking up with ChristinaApril, and Natasha:

ONE
Lilly is sleeping in today and it's GLORIOUS!!! I can hear a tiny voice starting to stir but this morning has been amazing! I got to clean the kitchen, make a pot of coffee, make breakfast, light a candle and read my blogs... Glorious I tell you. One day I'll get up earlier than her on a consistent basis. Just not yet. (Unless she keeps this up in which case HELL YES.)

TWO
I never realized how much I rely on a "uniform" until I tried to play fashion blogger this week and all my outfits had the exact same formula. Even the fall clothes still include my pearl stud earrings + rose gold Kendra Scott Elisa pendant + same shoes (whichever I'm obsessed with at that moment -- Jack Rogers glitter sandals for now, riding boots or booties in the fall). I need a perfect staple pair of flats to work in rotation but I'm picky -- have to be comfortable, long-lasting (not wear out fast), a cute slim silhouette (I prefer a slightly pointed toe, no round!!!!), some heel support but not a high heel, and be able to withstand SOME weather. Got a favorite I should know about??? (I've looked into the Tory Burch flats. They seem promising but it's got to be worth every penny of the expense and preferably go on at least a teensy bit of a sale... Gosh I'm hard to please.)

THREE
I'm having a major aquamarine moment. Drew and I have talked about eventually creating a "stack" of wedding bands to go with my engagement ring. I don't know how realistic or even visually appealing that is, but I started googling "aquamarine eternity bands" on a whim the other night and saw this, which I'm in love with. Obviously I'm not going to get a new engagement ring like the one above (although I LOVE it!) but I think this (not actually eternity) aquamarine vintagey cut band is STUNNING. And would go nicely in my stack in white gold. (And also aquamarine is much more affordable than diamonds!) It ain't happening anytime soon anyways, but a girl can dream. (Also see this and this.)

FOUR
On a related note, I'm also having a major purple moment favorite color-wise lately. I'm not sure when it started (maybe even a couple of years ago with a pedicure on Drew's birthday, 2014?), but I've been so drawn to shades of it lately. In the past my "favorite color" tends to evolve over the years -- buttercream yellow was top for the longest time, turquoise made its mark for a while, then had an emerald/kelly green phase, a short-lived burgundy moment, a few years of aubergine, then I settled on pure unadulterated pink (and coral and all the varying shades, including raspberry). But especially right now, I am all about lilac and orchid and a few other pretty purple names I can't seem to recall at this moment violet and magenta. I really like it in collaboration with pinks and peaches and corals and sunset hues. (Read: Lilly patterns.)

FIVE
Remember how I blogged about my Lilly sale loot and said I was holding myself back from the Skipper popover I wanted? Ummm... I got it. I have no self control when it comes to rock bottom Lilly prices!!! Cringe! Major spending freeze in effect immediately.

___________________

We are supposedly getting our new dishwasher installed this afternoon. I say supposedly because we ordered it TWENTY DAYS AGO and they came to install it the 12th but brought us a defective one. REALLY hoping this one is the charm and we'll have a working freaking dishwasher from now on. (I am so over handwashing dishes.) Also on the agenda for this weekend -- Drew working tomorrow morning, me working a wedding tomorrow afternoon & evening, tonight's wedding rehearsal, and probably some celebration for Drew's Dad whose birthday is today. I am very excited that I will only have two more 2016 weddings to coordinate after this weekend (YAY!). We have an insanely busy calendar coming up over the next billion weekends -- showers, weddings to attend, a wedding to work, parties, birthdays, bachelorette party to throw, Lilly's belated one year photo session with our dear friend Amy. Then before we know it, it'll be the holidays!!!! I ordered Lilly's Halloween costume yesterday, so at least I'm a tiny step ahead. I'm getting excited about the upcoming holidays (even though Christmas is 4 months away)... Mom has to put her work schedule in next week so maybe we'll get some semblance of an idea what the heck we're going to do this year. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house last November and it was excellent -- we had rental china and real silver (!) and a big, ole' fancy formal dinner like I've always wanted. But I would be equally happy with a coastal Thanksgiving like we used to do at my sister's house every year in Savannah. We shall see!

You have any big or exciting plans for this weekend? Labor Day is next week! Fall is upon us!!! I was sweating to death trying on my plaid flannel shirt this week, but won't be too long before it's actually weather-appropriate! COME ON, boots and crisp air and getting so sick of looking at pumpkins 24/7! (I already have pumpkin soap out. I'm going to hate it so much so soon...)

Lilly sale madness

Surprisingly, I'm not referring to the sheer mass of Lilly aficionados or online traffic... I personally have been overtaken with Lilly madness and a buying spree I'm totally embarrassed by. But the prices are so good!!! The prints are so good!!! I'm holding myself back from getting the $60 Skipper popover I "need" in a brighter color (mine's navy) and smaller size. (Christmas??)

Here's what I couldn't hold myself back from...

Been in love with this Marlowe since it debuted. That stripe! The purples! The comfy fit! I have the same cut of dress in a bright blue stripe and it's beyond perfect. Hoping the XS I snagged this one in will be a great fit. I plan to layer my coral puffer vest over this all winter!

Fell in love with these beach shorts when Caycee was singing their praises beginning of this summer. I don't have any sporty / casual shorts that I like enough to wear out (I've never gotten the pricey athletic Nike "norts" or a cute monogrammed pair) and before this sale I never had a Lilly printed t shirt (wait for it) so I usually wear solids on top. These seem perfect for lounging at home, walking on the beach, very casual errand running (I'm looking at you, Walmart), and to keep me from stripping down totally (literally) butt-naked in those postpartum hot flashes when we have another baby. (Did I mention I lived in a bandeau bra and underwear the month after Lilly Beth was born??)

Couldn't resist a little Lilly shift for LB. The price was SO GOOD ($19!!!!!!!!), we get so much wear out of them, and truly we didn't have an orange color variation intil now. You're welcome, BooBoo!! ;) Also totally going to do something with all of Lilly's Lilly P clothes once they're all outgrown. Teddy bears? Quilt? Something precious to commemorate.

Which brings me to this... My first printed tee!! You'd think I'd have one since it's a pretty basic wardrobe staple, but my Lilly closet progression has gone from strictly cocktail / dressy dresses to a few accent layers (jackets and vests) to casual everyday dresses to everyday pieces. I truly do like to wear at least one Lilly thing daily, year-round. My wallet and phone case are Lilly, my laptop and tech covers are Lilly... It's my signature style and I fully embrace it. Give me all the color!!! I look happy and preppy even when it's frigid out (what up, boots and tights?), so my closet is getting filled in with pieces for every occasion and mood. (I also RARELY if EVER buy full price and mostly get things gifted, so it's a long term "collection" I adore.) Needed this print obvs to match LB's new shift!

And this. LB has a size 2 shift in this Iris Blue Shrimply Chic print, so now we can match in it!!! Like I said before, major purple moment right now. And I think this will be a nice layering piece to go under cardigans in the cooler months.

Most of these items are sold out now (the beach shorts are still going strong!) but there is still SO MUCH GOODNESS -- if you haven't checked it out, go hither and get you some fabulous Lilly wares!!! Their clothes are always high quality, made to last, timeless and flattering.

bebé dos:: eleven weeks

How far along: 11 weeks!
Gender: This is the final week we won't know!!!!!! ISN'T THAT INSANE? It really is awesome getting to know upfront, although I can see the downside too. (For example, if you miscarried later in the first trimester, you *might* be more attached knowing exactly WHO you lost. Although I don't think anything could possibly lighten the load of grief if that were to happen, so that seems pretty null and void.) I can't make up my mind about a feeling for who this baby is. I didn't wear the "good luck" ladybug bracelet to my bloodwork appointment like I did with Lilly (my sister gave it to me after wearing it to her gender-revealing ultrasound with Poppy, for good girl luck) because Drew legitimately wants a boy and I don't want either of us to be disappointed, so I don't want to lean one way more than the other and potentially get disappointed. Whoever this baby is, will be exactly what our family needs and will complete our family perfectly. Boy or girl, this child was wanted with every fiber of our being and will be loved with every fiber of our being.
Names we love: This is just where we run into issues. Julianna Cate is set. But boy? Drew's leaning Beau Wesley. I still lean towards Wallace or Whitaker, or something altogether completely different. We may not have a boy name in time for our gender reveal party, which will be Saturday, September 3!!!
Total weight gain: +2, I think. I have no idea what the official number is, but I have been eating like CRAP lately. Wouldn't be surprised if I have legitimately gained weight since I've not been working out but still eating all the cake, ice cream, cookies, bread, everything I shouldn't.
Clothes: Still wearing my normal attire but I'm reaching "busted can of biscuits" phase where I look bloated and fat rather than preggo.
Sleep: Relatively normal. I like my early bedtimes.
Cravings/Aversions: Cravings - Cake. Ice cream. Grits. Bread. Deli meat. Sushi. Literally anything I cannot have. Aversions - Indian food. Zoodles. Not too much.
Symptoms: A revisit of nausea this week, but milder. Major moodiness, crankiness, irritability. Impatience.

Diabetes Management: Taking 2u of fast-acting insulin with dinner as of today.
Exercise: Walking around stores. #shoptilyoudrop
Mood: Happy now, but mostly irritable on an everyday basis.
Miss Anything: Nope.
Best Moment this week: Drew returning from Chicago, me being reunited with Lilly after not seeing her ALL DAY LONG yesterday!

Told Anyone? No one new.
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender in one week!!!!!! Gender reveal party next weekend! Getting this wedding over with Saturday!

embroidery projects of late

Ever since we set up my "office" a few months back, I've had a lovely space to get my monogramming fix on, major. I buckled and finally paid for the premium version of Embrilliance software, so now I can have a zillion options as far as downloads go and resizing / customization. Woo hoo!

Here are some of the projects I've done over the past few months.

The Easter series! Did three of these for Lilly and two baby-buds of hers -- love the little bunnies with their teensy monograms!

For Lilly's puppy pawty birthday (as I'm sure you recall), I did a matching poodle suite of onesie, bib, and birthday hat. They turned out super cute, even if I had to scrap the original onesie. Appliqué is hard the first couple of times!

Lilly got a precious little hooded towel for her birthday, so of course it had to be monogrammed.

This simple Target tank dress was also an easy project for a little something custom!

Clearly I still have yet to master my spacing on projects that have to be re-hooped, but aren't these silhouettes PRECIOUS?

Oh, the bonnets! We have done every version possible -- violet on white seersucker, turquoise on yellow seersucker, pink on green with pink stripe, blue on white, periwinkle on floral print... you name it!

These were a couple of little dresses LB got for her birthday that had the perfect spot to put a monogram!

For Kat's wedding, I'm embroidered all the bridal party's initials on our matching robes!

Couple of small home projects!

Had to do Poppy some Disney shirts for her trip this spring!

Oh, the baby shower gifts galore!!

birthday weekend recap!

27 was a good one... Lots of pampering, family dinners, good food, and baby (toddler 😭) snuggles.

Thursday, I got my hair cut & colored so I look like a new woman.

Friday night Drew made me filet and we went to bed early. Glorious!

Saturday, we had breakfast at home, then bought a new dishwasher (to be installed Friday!), and headed over to his parents' place for grilling out burgers. I got to sneak away to get a mani-pedi while they grocery shopped and cooked with the babe (hooray!). I got a glittery aubergine on my toes and a shimmery cream-pink that changes colors with temperature on my nails.

Sunday was my actual birthday, so we went out to Coco's for brunch! I had a perfect cappuccino and the most delicious Italian egg dish (the "Tuscan" - focaccia, marinara, eggs, mozzarella... Divine). Drew had the breakfast lasagna, which was equally scrumptious. We walked around Target for exercise, took a long glorious family nap, and then went to my parents' place for birthday dinner of ribs, black-eyed peas, collard greens, and chocolate espresso torte.

Happy 27 to meeeeee!!!
